Certified Community Health Worker (CCHW)

Part Time

Minimum Work Hours

20 hours per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; may work additional hours as assigned.

Who We Are

The Mother’s Cove is in Columbus, Ohio at the First Church of God. Our audience includes moms who are pregnant or have children who are 2 years and under. The mission of The Mother’s Cove is to provide information, services, and resources to produce a healthy mom, healthy baby and healthy outcomes, with the ultimate goal to end preventable infant mortality.


What We Do

The objective of Mother’s Cove is to educate Moms on ways to keep themselves and their families healthy and happy. Through interactive 6 week cohorts the Moms hear from speakers on a series of prenatal and postnatal topics, The programs are designed to help moms with their mental, physical and fiscal health. The Mother’s Cove also hosts various events throughout the year to share useful information and resources.


Duties of our CHW

The duties of our Community Health Worker include:

  • Recruiting Moms who are pregnant and/or have children 2 years and under to participate in Mother’s Cove programs; especially those who live in the 43232/27 zip code, i.e., cohorts, community events, etc.
  • Share Mother’s Cove resources with clients to help them take care of their children, i.e., diapers, wipes, food, clothes etc.
  • Attend cohorts, community meetings (online and in person) and work with community partners.
  • Assist cohort trainers/facilitators, as needed, i.e., make copies of documents etc.
  • Attend staff meetings, in person and on-line as requested.
  • Contact clients at least weekly through calls and/or texts to get updates, i.e., notify them of Mother’s Cove events, build relationships, make sure clients are safe etc.
  • Write weekly reports, i.e., share weekly activities in detail.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Certified Community Health Worker
  • H.S. Diploma
  • Ability to work with diverse groups
  • Able to lift 25 pounds
  • Valid Driver's License
  • US Citizen
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Able to design and present PowerPoint
